Our story
Founded by Robert Blakely in 1977
Northern Woods Tree Service was founded by Robert Blakely in 1977, an arborist, Navy veteran and loving father of three daughters. After his sudden passing in 2022, his daughters took over running the business, preserving their father's legacy and continuing to serve their community.
As a family-owned and woman-led business, we're deeply rooted in the Northern Virginia community. We recognize the specific challenges urban trees face and provide custom solutions to address them.

How soon can the work be scheduled?
Once our arborist has submitted the estimate and the proposal has been signed, we can move forward with scheduling. We try to get work scheduled as soon as possible, depending on the season and weather conditions. An emergency tree service is prioritized and can be done on the same day if conditions allow.
When is payment due?
Payment is due at the completion of the job. Once the job is finished, you will receive an invoice via email with a link to pay by credit card, or you can send a check by mail.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit cards, checks, and free ACH transfers. Credit card payments can be made by clicking the link on the invoice that will be sent to you via email. Payments may also be taken over the phone by calling our office directly at (571) 236-7909.
How long does stump grinding take?
While most stumps take 1-3 hours to remove, larger stumps or harder-to-reach jobs may take longer. We'll provide a time estimate before starting.
